Bob Hellman

CEO & Managing Director

Bob has been a private equity investor for nearly 25 years. He was previously CEO and managing director at MDC, a private equity firm which managed $1.2 billion of capital. He was responsible for inventing the pioneering idea of applying the MLP structure to the deathcare industry. This led to the IPO of StoneMor Partners as an MLP in 2004, the first non-natural resource-related MLP offering in over a decade. He has been an investor and director in a wide variety of industries, including building materials, forest products, energy production and distribution, office supplies, printing, apparel, deathcare, health and fitness, and entertainment. Prior to joining MDC, he was with Bain & Company, where he focused on expansion strategies, cost reduction, and the analysis of acquisition opportunities. Matt Carbone

Managing Director

Matt has spent nearly 20 years in private equity and investment banking, and has sourced, managed, or executed more than 80 transactions worth over $10 billion. His experience includes private equity investing, public and private equity financing, and structuring and execution of joint ventures and M&A, primarily for energy, natural resources, consumer and technology businesses. In 1998, he founded and led Wit Capital Group's West Coast operations and was responsible for building and managing the firm's investment banking operations. George McCown

Managing Director

George has over 40 years of general management and investment experience through his role as co-founder of MDC and his prior 18 years of general management experience at Boise Cascade Corporation. He has served as an investor, manager and/or director of over 30 companies in numerous industries including paper and packaging, building materials, real estate, energy production and distribution, office products and services, manufacturing and distribution, business outsourcing, education, financial services, health and fitness, mortgage banking and servicing, restaurants, and retail. Brian Barlow

Principal

Brian has over 17 years of investing experience in both the public and private equity markets with a specific interest and expertise in MLPs. He most recently led the public research and investing activities in energy, basic materials and natural resources at Scion Capital, a $750 million hedge fund. Prior to Scion Capital, he was a Principal with Broadview Capital Partners, a $250 million private equity fund that he helped launch and manage. He began his career at Dain Bosworth where he was a public market buy-side research analyst covering the REIT, MLP and electric utility sectors. MBA: Columbia, BA: University of Washington.

Ryan Barnes

Principal

Ryan has over 13 years of experience in corporate finance, fund management and operations. He has executed more than 30 transactions worth over $4 billion. Most recently, Ryan was a Partner at SkyBridge Capital, a $5 billion fund formed in collaboration with MSD Capital, Michael Dell's investment office. Prior to SkyBridge, he was the Director of Strategic Development at Soleil Securities Group, an institutional brokerage firm backed by Bain Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners. He was earlier a Vice President at Wit Capital, where he oversaw the operations of its 140-person Japanese joint venture. Ryan began his career in the leveraged finance group at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. BA: Stanford.

Ed Diffendal

Principal

Ed has over 15 years of investing and operating experience in the energy and technology industries. He most recently served as Founder and CEO of MRail Technologies, an industrial services company focused on delivering test and measurement data to transportation and logistics companies. Prior to MRail, he managed software partnerships at Symantec, was a Vice President at Broadview Capital Partners, and was a Global Account Manager at Monitor Company, focused on energy and natural resources clients. Judy Bornstein

Chief Financial Officer

Judy has over 12 years of accounting, finance and operating experience. She has been CFO of the American Infrastructure Funds LLC since its founding, after having served as CFO of MDC, a middle market private equity fund, since 2000. Prior to MDC, Judy was the CFO of InterDimensions Corporation, an Internet consulting and technology company, and Director of National Operations for SmartRoute Systems. Nancy Katz

Vice President of Investor Relations

Nancy has nearly 20 years of experience in investor relations, marketing, communications and general management. She joined the American Infrastructure Funds LLC at its founding, having performed the same role at MDC, a middle market private equity fund, since 2000. She was previously the founding Executive Director of Net Impact, an international MBA membership organization. Nancy also held prior positions in investor relations at RREEF, a leading institutional real estate investment firm, and at Modulaire Industries. MBA: Stanford, BA: Amherst.

Ed Leung

Vice President

Ed has 7 years of experience in private investing, M&A and corporate finance. He most recently sourced and executed investments in private technology and energy technology companies as an Associate at Ridgewood Capital, the venture capital arm of Ridgewood Companies, a $2 billion family of private equity funds. Prior to Ridgewood Capital, he worked as an Analyst with Banc of America Securities' Real Estate, Lodging and Leisure Investment Banking group where he helped execute M&A, equity and debt offerings. Roland Ho

Associate

Roland Ho joined our team from Morgan Stanley's Infrastructure Fund, part of their Merchant Banking Division in New York, where he was an Associate. At Morgan Stanley, he worked on transactions spanning several MLP-qualifying sectors including energy, specialty real estate and waste management. His prior experience was as an Investment Banking Analyst in J.P. Morgan's general industrial group in San Francisco. BS: Northwestern.

Wayne Sackett

Associate

Wayne joined our team in 2010 from RBC Capital Markets, where he worked on a number of M&A transactions and financial analysis in the energy and MLP sectors. His most recent assignment was in RBC's M&A group in San Francisco, where he moved after prior experience in their Energy Investment Banking Group in Houston. Before joining RBC, Wayne was a process engineer at Valero's refinery in Benicia, CA. BS: University of California, Berkeley.

Greg Mason

Greg joined our team from Citi's Healthcare investment banking group in New York, where he worked on a number of M&A and capital markets transactions across the sector. Prior to his work at Citi, Greg was in the San Francisco office of Imperial Capital, an investment banking firm that specializes in restructuring and distressed situations.
